John is a super-fan of Heeler dogs (aka Australian Cattle Dogs). He’s owned a total of 4 different Heeler dogs, including one of the dogs we currently have. If you know John at all, you know he’s nuts about them. He has dedicated Pinterest boards for cute photos of Heelers, he follows instagram accounts of Heeler dogs and is constantly telling us stories of his past dog-friends.

I tell you all of this because when a friend of his got wind of a stray [heeler] dog, she immediately messaged him and showed him cute videos of this poor dog that was found on the porch of a church during the tornado warnings. We didn’t need another dog and more vet bills, but after a few days of chatting with the woman that rescued him, we felt like we must go meet the fella. So we did.

We drove to Winder and met this dog. He was quiet and polite and clearly sick and hungry. He stared at us with big eyes and we just didn’t have the heart to send him away, so we took him home.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to Walter! We’ve only had him a week or so, so we don’t know too much about him, but so far, he’s polite, sweet, and insanely likable!
