As I sit here trying not to fall asleep editing photos/writing this blog post, I wonder, what do my readers want to know about this wedding? I’ve been reading blogs for many years now, and to be completely honest, I don’t like when bloggers/photographers write nothing about their photos, and I also dislike when they go on and on and on about the wedding and couple getting married. I like reading something and I think my favorite part about a blog post is the more personal aspect of the event or session. OR if there’s a good story to be shared, that’s good, too. But, I’ve never read a blog for the purpose of hiring a photographer and I’ve never read a blog as client. And I’m going to assume that the reason you’re looking plays a big part in what you want to see and why you’re reading the blog to begin with.
If I was going to tell my photog friends about Lindsay and Justin’s wedding, I would probably tell them that they got married in a pretty cool venue, one that I hadn’t worked at before. The staff was there was friendly and ridiculously organized and prompt (in a good way). That it poured buckets of rain most of the day and made for some tricky maneuvering of people and guests. I would tell them that the flowers were amazing and I’d like to work there again.
But, if I were to tell a client about Lindsay and Justin’s wedding, I would point out that things go so smoothly when you take the time to plan out what what you want and when you want it. Lindsay put many hours into making sure things went according to plan and between us and the venue’s day-of staff, everything went perfectly.
