Like I said yesterday, this morning was picture day for Henry. Jeremy, Henry and I went shopping last evening for a shirt, but didn’t find anything that was any better than the outfit I already had. He wore the outfit he already had 🙂
I dragged Jeremy out of bed, forced Henry into pants that he didn’t want to wear (heaven only knows why he didn’t want to wear them), and after setting my camera outside to acclimate and feeding Henry, we headed to the beach.
Henry ran and ran some more. By the time I talked him into sitting on a drainage pipe, my camera was covered in a film of something. I don’t know what happened. I tried wiping my lens off, the mirror; nothing helped. Finally, I decided to head back to the room and see if a real lens cleaning cloth would help matters. And it did. But by the time I got back to the beach, Henry had wet pants and was ready to go ‘inside’. We talked him into stopping on the way back, and I got about three images, but their cute. And even though I was pissed that my camera got weird and that Henry didn’t last more than 10 minutes, I got some cute images. Want to see them?
** a side note for those of you wondering how I could give up my full-frame camera (5D) for one that wasn’t (7D); this is why, the above image. I would NEVER have gotten that image in focus with my old camera. Never. **
Isn’t he too cute? So confident and full of energy 😉
Henry doesn’t believe in looking at me when there is a camera in front of my face. Never, not ever, will it happen. I’m sure as he gets older, it will take crazy bribery to achieve any images of him looking at the camera. I’m just going to assign a family member or friend to the task of photographing my children and call it over. My pics will have to be candid. I’m resigning myself to that right now. On record. Maybe I should just schedule a session with Logan, Caroline, Kat, Casey, Chris and Jeremy for every 3 months (rotating photographers) for the rest of Henry’s childhood. What do you guys think? I’d get quite the variety, huh?
Just in case you were wondering, there was quite a zoo going on behind me for the above shot. But it’s cute. Can I just say that I really wish their were some catchlights in his eyes? Oh, well. Between camera malfunctions and Henry, I think we got a few good ones 😉
